DIY Oddballz Hex-Editors

The first thing you will need before making a new Oddballz breed is to download editing tools. I recommend using a combination of the programs, centering around Vim for for the majority of the work [ is 'replace' - the only command you'll need, well apart from save (from the menu) ], axe to extract bitmaps and notepad for *looking* (only) at the four simple files.
